At the top of Valby Bakke sits Jakobsens Hus with magnificent views of Søndermarken and the new Carlsberg Byen. Here, history is preserved yet continued wwith the use of yellow patinated bricks, originally from the iconic Søndermarkshus from 1878. The bricks link the past and present, creating a visual connection between the new and old Carlsberg areas.

The recycled yellow bricks are carefully patinated with a special blend of lime water and black pigment dye, giving them a depth and character that only time can provide. The patination is done in two shades; giving the building a dynamic and vibrant look. The darkest shade is used as a band along the lower part of the building, highlighting the foundation of the building and creating a harmonious balance between the different design elements.

Jakobsens Hus is an example of how recycled materials can be given new life and add authenticity and warmth to modern architecture. The yellow patinated bricks give the building an aesthetic lift and a unique character that both respects the area’s historical heritage and highlights the modern vision of the new Carlsberg Byen.
