At Gamle Mursten we understand the importance of sharing our many years of knowledge and experience with others. Just as we want new buildings to be built with recycled bricks, we also want to spread knowledge about the benefits of recycling bricks.

If you are planning the demolition of a building, we may be able to help with your material assessment report.

You may need help estimating quantities, or want to know how to proceed with taking brick samples for testing.

If you are in the process of formulating a demolition tender and need a little help with the wording to ensure that the bricks can be reused and are not crushed along the way, then get in touch with us.

We do not always have all the answers ready, but we are happy to help you find them. We are also happy to draw on knowledge from our laboratory and we benefit from the fact that we have almost 20 years of experience with cleaning bricks, with demolition and handling reclaimed bricks, construction sites and much more.

If you have bricks available that need to be cleaned and used in your next construction project, we are happy to advise you on the process of getting the bricks cleaned, CE- marked, stored at our brick hotel and delivered to the construction site at the right time.

Worth considering:

Design as many of the recycled bricks in the new building

If there are many half bricks in the old building, do included them in the new brickwork.

If there is a difference in the color of the facade and back wall, consider what design options this provides for the new building.

Many building materials can be recycled, so before formulating the demolition tender, investigate how you want the materials to be treated during and after demolition.

Ensure good and clear dialogue with the demolition contractor and the person in the excivator, so that you do not end up with a pile of crushed bricks instead of fine building materials.
