Ce-marking
Gamle Mursten was the first in Europe to offer CE marking for reclaimed bricks.
CE marking of recycled bricks at Gamle Mursten is your guarantee that the quality of our bricks meets the required standard. To obtain the marking, the bricks must be tested for pressure, frost and water absorption with a satisfactory result.
Gamle Mursten ApS has worked hard to obtain an EAD, an ETA and a so-called declaration of conformity, which together can be equated with a harmonized standard. And we are the first company in Denmark to both sell and market old bricks with documented performance and quality.
Until a few years ago, no recycled products could be CE marked. Reclaimed bricks from demolitions could not obtain CE-marking as they were produced before the CE system was introduced and before a harmonized standard was available.
Gamle Mursten takes brick samples and conducts tests for pressure, frost, water absorption and pore filling, which reveal whether the bricks meet the quality requirements of the CE marking.
Gamle Mursten sells recycled bricks with documented performance and quality.

Gamle Mursten can store your bricks once we have cleaned them, then they are ready for when your construction project commences, even if that’s not for a year or longer.
What is CE-marking?
European standardisation and CE marking
A CE-mark is necessary to sell and produce a great many products in Europe.
Construction products that are covered by a product directive and a harmonized standard must be CE-marked before they can be placed on the European market.
CE-marking ensures free movement of goods throughout the EEA, and through the CE-mark the manufacturer or importer, ensures that the product has been produced in accordance with the legal requirements of the relevant directive. The CE- mark guarantees that there is sufficient documentation of quality and production method to allow you to trust that the product will last as it was intended.
Not all construction products can or should be CE-marked.
If a product was produced before it was subject to a standard, then that product does not need to be CE marked.
It is mandatory to CE-mark construction products covered by a harmonized standard
Today, approximately 75% of all construction products are covered by a harmonized standard and are therefore mandatory to carry the CE- mark.
Is it voluntary for the manufacturer whether the company wants to CE-mark construction products that are not covered by a harmonized standard.
It can be an advantage to do so because you then have documentation that the product lives up to the performance it says it does.
An EAD is legally equivalent to the harmonized standards.
Gamle Mursten has succeeded in having a harmonized standard and a so-called declaration of conformity created, and can thus both sell and market old bricks with documented performance and quality. Our production manual and test procedure are certified by a 3rd party, in our case Dancert.
We see each brick as a natural element that carries history and beauty within itself.
