How can we help
At Gamle Mursten we see the importance of sharing our many years of knowledge and experience with others. Just as we want new buildings to be built with old bricks, we also want to spread knowledge about the benefits of recycling bricks.
If you are planing to demolish a building, we can help with material mapping of the bricks.
You may need help estimating quantities, or want to know how to proceed with removing bricks for testing.
If you are writing the tender for a demolition and need a little help with the wording to ensure that the bricks can be reused rather than crushed, then contact us. We do not always have all the answers ready, but we are happy to help you find them.
We are also happy to draw on our knowledge from our own laboratory and we benefit from the fact that we have almost 20 years of experience with cleaning reclaimed bricks, with demolition and handling old bricks.
If you have bricks available that need to be cleaned and used in your next construction project, we are happy to advise you on the process of getting the bricks cleaned, CE marked, stored in a brick hotel and delivered to the construction site at the right time. Contact us for an initial dialogue.
Worth remembering:
Design as many of the reclaimed bricks into the new building
If there are many half bricks in the old building, do included them in the new design.
If there is a difference in the color of the facade and back wall, consider what design options this provides for the new building.
Many building materials can be recycled, so before formulating the tender, investigate how you want the materials to be treated.
Ensure good and clear dialogue with the demolition team so that you do not end up with a pile of crushed bricks instead of fine building bricks.
Ask questions about anything! We are happy to help.
At Gamle Mursten, we understand that quality is about more than just material; it is about aesthetics, durability and respect for the story behind each brick.
